Q: I am replacing the propeller. The cotter pin and castle nut came off easily but I cannot remove the propeller. The Owner's Manual says you only have to pull to remove it. Is my propeller faulty?

A: The propeller is designed to be easily pulled off after the cotter pin and castle nut have been removed. If the propeller cannot be removed, it may be firmly stuck on the propeller shaft due to salt or corrosion. Do not attempt to pull the propeller with excessive force. To prevent the propeller from sticking or corroding, it is advisable to periodically remove the propeller, clean it, and grease the propeller shaft.
Be sure to use marine-grade grease on the propeller shaft.
